Familiarize Yourself with the Different Types of Pallet Racks to Make the Most Suitable Choice

Pallets are valuable implements in the production industry since they are used to move the merchandises efficiently. However, the more important thing to think about is how to store the pallets resourcefully to prevent the merchandises from being damaged. Here is where pallet racks will come into the picture. These highly important implements come in various types but most people in the industry will find it hard to distinguish one from another. If you are part of this industry, you should familiarize yourself with the differences of each type since they have a respective benefit to offer. If you are able to choose accordingly to your specific needs and spacing availability, then you have more than succeeded in your selection process.

The flow racks are considered by many as the best option. These pallet racks conveniently use the principle of gravity in moving the pallets. With the pallets being restrained with a hose, the shelves are adjusted at a slightly tilted angle. The hose is responsible for the movement of the hose. Whereas, the pallets are moved along the shelf when the hose deflates and remains in a stationary position when it deflates. There are two sides for this type of pallet rack – the loading and unloading sides. It effectively improves the productivity as the forklift can simply maneuver back and forth the two sides. It is actually the best choice for facilities that are strictly in need of a timely operation with the first pallet on first pallet of method that it represents.

The drive-in rack is the type of pallet rack that serves for the purpose of utilizing the available storage to the highest extent. This is the best means of making it easy for forklift trucks to maneuver around the facility. However, it is actually only highly recommended for facilities that have separate points of entry and exit. If there is only one opening, the first in last out method will be used which does not help in the efficiency and productivity of the facility. Still, drive-in rack allows for a casual drive-in and store system for forklifts.

Pallet racks also come in the form of push-back racks. With the ability to rotate pallets, this gives you extreme flexibility and a lot of added storage space. Basically, they also make use of the drive-in rack approach, using the forklift to directly place the pallets on the shelves. However, it is convenient for time-pressured operations since a more reliant rotation between the products is used.

Last, but not the least, pallet racks are also available as structural racks, the type which is able to withstand considerable loads. Apart from the fact that they can support massive weights, they are also able to tolerate extreme environmental conditions, making them the sturdiest type of all. Their strength and durability make them a prevalent choice of most industries.

These are the available choices for pallet racks today. Weight out your requirements – durability, efficiency, flexibility and others – for this will be your primary guide in making the right choice.
